Today, we’re going to take a look at Purple Haze CBD flower from Venice Circle (Venice Kush on the bottle). This is a new strain that someone asked about in /r/CBDflower (on reddit). The price was a bit steep, but I figured I should check it out at least once.
Just a quick note. When I ordered this 1/8th, I could have sworn I was ordering Sour Diesel, but I accidentally ended up ordering an 1/8th OZ (3.7 grams) of the Purple Haze strain. When I went back to check, the jars do indeed look somewhat similar. Either that, or I need some new glasses. Lol.
Shopping 8/10
The shopping process is fine right now, but they are currently only taking PayPal payments (which also allows any credit card payment), and as we’ve seen with other vendors, payments is where we see problems happening a lot.
So I wouldn’t be surprised to see Venice Circle loses the PayPal option soon. And as I’ve said before, hopefully either the laws change soon, or someone steps up to start offering a good payment solution for cannabis companies.
Shipping 6/10
This was one of the more sketchy packages I’ve received. Not because of anything legal or getting in trouble, but because it was just poorly packed.
‘
I don’t know if they were trying to save on shipping by using an envelope, but this was a glass jar. And the only protection was a couple of layers of bubble wrap. Nothing bad happened, but getting an envelope full of buds mixed with shards of glass would be no fun at all.
Smell proofing was fabulous.
The shipping label was also very plain. It just said “Venice Circle”. Probably a better choice than “Venice Kush”.
Presentation 10/10
It seems like a lot of thought and effort went into creating this product. The first thing that stood out to me was that the hemp was packaged in a really nice glass jar. The label is only covering about 1/2 the surface so there’s a great view of the flower, which as the name implies, has a good amount of purple in it.
There’s a custom design for each strain. All of the useful info (labs) is printed on a small label on the jar. The presentation is great, and this is the kind of thing I’m looking forward to seeing more of.
Testing Grade 3/10
Safety testing: No (-5)
Potency Testing: Yes (+3)
Terpene Analysis: No (-2)
First Smell 8/10
The fact that this flower is packaged in a jar probably helps a great deal, because with most bagged flower I get, I can’t really get a good intense smell until it’s been stored in a glass jar for a few days.
So as soon as I opened the jar, I could tell that the flower was decently cured. It has a very sweet smell. Slightly on the tangy side. With a hint of fuel and funk.
Bud Quality 10/10
I know I have a small sample size, but the bud size was pretty average to slightly above average.
This isn’t the frostiest bud, It seems like a lot of effort went into trimming and curing. I can’t really put my finger on it, but I really like the combination of the density of this bud and the amount of moisture. It’s not so dry that it falls apart, but also not so wet that it’s difficult to break apart.
I’ve only vaped about a gram so far, but there are no seeds to be found.
On the package, it says this flower has only 11.9% CBD, where as some of the other strains we’ve seen have consistently had around 15%. Obviously, I can’t say this with any certainly at all, but I suspect the numbers might be a lot higher than 12%. This is based on just visual inspection while breaking buds apart by hand. Also, index finger and thumb got temporarily stuck together by resin.
Vaping Taste 7/10
I don’t have a ton of experience with vaping different flowers, but at this point, I’m starting to be able to see some real differences and similarities in the flower I’ve tried.
This product (Purple Haze) is very similar to the sauce strains as well as the cherry. More sweet (like a very sweet citrus) and floral tasting. They all have their different quirks. For example, one might taste like a tangerine, where as another might taste like a grapefruit.
Where as with the Suzy Q, the smell and taste is WAY more on the tangy (like a sour citrus) and gas/diesel/fuel side.
Effects 8/10
Even though the total cannabinoid levels are lower than a lot of the strains we’ve looked at so far, the effects are still on par. The main difference is going to be in which terpenes are present.
This flower has a very relaxing effect, which in my opinion is good for focusing on work as well as winding down before bed.
Overall Value 6/10
This flower was really pretty, the cure was really nice, the flower density/ quality was great, but the price is a little too steep for me to be able to recommend it.
Obviously, I found the price to be high, but for that price, I would expect a lot higher quality.
But for $40, my money is going to buy a 1/2 ounce or more of something just as good or better.
As usual. Thanks so much for reading and all the comments here and on youtube and instagram.
If you haven’t yet, make sure to check out the youtube video showing a this flower close up.
Hi, fellow MJ Geeks! Just wanted to share an awesome new social platform called Smoke.io. Think of it as kind of like Instagram, Youtube, or Reddit. Except with one difference.
When you post good cannabis content on Smoke you DON'T get banned. You actually get rewarded with Smoke. A crypto currency like Bitcoin that you can actually redeem for USD.
Check it out and make sure follow and say hello @mjgeeks!

Thanks for another amazing review. How would you compare this CBD flower to the purple CBD flower from CBD Hemp Direct? Obviously this Venice flower probably had little to no seeds and was probably neatly trimmed, while your review of CBD Hemp Direct’s purple said it had a bunch of seeds, but they now say they have no seeds in it. Also what do you mean about having not as good vape quality, do you mean the taste, vapor production or both? Also I know I’m asking a lot, but could you possibly include a picture of the specs they posted on the back of the jar or maybe type it out? That last question might be too much and I understand if you don’t address it, but finding out as much as I can about the CBD flowers and how they fare is like a new addiction of mine. Thanks again!
>How would you compare this CBD flower to the purple CBD flower from CBD Hemp Direct?
Other than the obvious ones you mentioned, I liked the taste of CBD hemp direct more. The vapor quality was a little better.
>what do you mean about having not as good vape quality, do you mean the taste, vapor production or both?
More resin – so vape session lasts longer, and better taste. More super tasty draws before the flavor runs out 🙂
>could you possibly include a picture of the specs they posted on the back of the jar or maybe type it out?
Sure! I updated this post with a pic of the labs.
Thanks so much for reading and commenting! There’s also a youtube video of this strain available on mjgeeks youtube channel. But you probably already saw that. Lol
Thanks for this review. It was a great read! For quality CBD flower, what are the market prices you use as a reference to figure out whether or not something is overpriced? For 1 gram, 1/8 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, 1 oz, 1 lb…what should consumers aim to pay?
