Review of Purple Power Ranger CBD Flower from CBD Hemp Direct

Purple Power Ranger from CBD Hemp Direct

Some of you may have seen the review of the 30 gram bag of CBD Hemp Direct’s Cherry Wine.

Well, this week, we’ve got a new strain from CBD Hemp Direct to try. It’s called Purple Power Ranger.

Sound pretty awesome, right? Yeah. I ordered as soon as I saw it for sale on the site.

And a HUGE thanks to CBD Hemp Direct, because they sent me some extra goodies!

Shopping na/10

Shipping 10/10

Shipping was extremely fast again (these guys are on it!). I ordered on a Thursday, Feb 8. It arrived Monday, Feb 12.

Instead of a smell proof bag, the buds were packaged in a plastic jar. Though the jar isn’t super nice, the design is attractive. Also, I do prefer to store my flower in jars. So it’s way more convenient for me.

Here’s the envelope it was shipped in.

The first thing I checked for was any odor of weed when I opened the envelope. There was no smell at all.

Presentation 9/10

I really liked the bag design of the $80 ounce of Cherry Wine, but I have to admit. I like the jars a lot better. I’m guessing it might be expensive to use jars for packaging, but it is a much more convenient way to store flower.

Also, I like the new package designs that look like Leafly or an elemental chart.

Testing Grade na/10

It’s been a while since I bought this. I’m pretty sure they sent some sort of COA, but I don’t have it, and the product isn’t available anymore.

First Smell 5/10

The smell is definitely good, but there’s not a lot of it there until you actually start to handle the flower.

Then, the smell really pours out. It’s very fruity and sweet smelling.

Bud Quality 7/10

First. A disclaimer: Seeds don’t bother me at all. When I find good seeds, I am always super stoked. I actually enjoy picking seeds out of buds.

Ok. Now that that’s out of the way.

Based on my last experience with CBD Hemp Direct, I was expecting some more nice CBD buds, and I wasn’t disappointed at all!

Since this flower came in a jar, it was actually not smushed at all. The flowers are big and airy. Like the first batch of Cherry Wine, this batch also has seeds. There don’t seem to be as many as the bag Cherry Wine, but still, there are several per bud.

Vaping Taste 8/10

The smell in the jar when I first opened it might have been a bit underwhelming, but the first vape! Wow!

I mean. I’m just going to say that this is the first time I’ve ever vaped a purple bud that tastes purple. I got notes of grape Kool Aid from back in the day. Very tasty!

Effects 8/10

This flower has just about 15% CBD, and I’m assuming around .3% THC.

For those who haven’t used any THC recently, you will likely feel a tiny effect from THC, but the main and overwhelming effect is that of the CBD.

It is very calming and relaxing. In my opinion, it’s for any time of day. For some, it may be better only at night b/c it can make you a bit drowsy.

Overall Value 8/10

If you don’t mind some seeds, this is a pretty great value. I’d prefer to buy a larger size for a discounted price. But even at $45/quarter ounce, the price is still good. Especially when compared to dispensaries.

  1. Thank you so much Bud J, this review was exactly what I expected. I am definitely going to order the Purple Power ranger as soon as I can. I was wondering if you could do a post on the terpene profiles and effects of each strain you’ve reviewed so far?

  2. I just received some in the mail and 4grams of the 7 were seeds. Very dry, broke to the touch. I was very disappointed. 45$ for 3grams of flower that wasn’t even cured correctly was no where near a good experience for myself.

    • Have you tried the flower from Buy Legal Meds yet? I think you would find it satisfactory. There are no seeds and the cure was good.

  3. Yes, I tried the cherry wine. I only bought a 1/8th, but was very impressed. I recently ordered a half oz of the therapy tea which should be here Tuesday. The only complaint I have with them and why I continue searching for an alternative is their price. It’s a bit too steep for me, but unfortunately the best available.

I messaged hemp direct with my complaints and they said that they would send me a free 7g container of the cherry wine they have to offer as compensation for my bad experience. They told me it has less seeds and a superior product to the purple power.

  4. Have you ever heard of Old Skool Remedies out of NM? I saw that they also provide CBD Flower at a pretty reasonable price. I would love to see a review for it. Not a lot of people out there doing what you’re doing, keep up the excellent work!

    • Hey. Yes. I haven’t ordered from them yet because they don’t seem to do online ordering. You are the 3rd person who has recommended I try them, so I will definitely make an order and do a review.

Thanks so much for checking out the reviews so far! And thanks for the kind words. It means a lot!

  5. Hey Bud J, I just came across a site on reddit offering CBD buds from Switzerland, it was called 420CBD, and I was wondering if youve thought about ordering? Their prices aren’t too bad considering it’s ordered from Switzerland, and they appear to have more strains than the standard cherry wine, special sauce, therapy tea like local US grown strains. They also claim 20+ % CBD

    • Is it cbd420.ch?

Wow! Yeah. Some great choices there for sure!

The last time I tried to order from Europe (I can’t remember the name of the company) my order ended up being canceled because they weren’t able to ship to the US. They did promptly refund my payment (Bitcoin) though.

Most of the flower from CBD420 has more than .3% THC, so technically, it’s not legal for me 🙁

That, and… it’s likely to be searched because it’s an agricultural product coming in to the US.

Looks awesome, but I’d be pretty hesitant to order.

  6. Even the blue dream that’s less than .3%? But have you ordered from cbd420 before?

    • No. I haven’t tried to order from them yet. I suppose the blue dream might be ok, but I’m just more comfortable ordering from within the US. All of the packaging from US companies I’ve ordered from has clear labeling that states that the product is legal in the US because of the 2014 farm bill. At least if someone were to intercept the package, they would be able to see that on the package and realize that it’s legal in the US and not illegal high THC flower.

  7. Hey bud J, I ran into a new product today, Tweedlefarms has a strain called Suzy Q at $30 a half ounce, I was wondering if you’ve heard of or tried them

  8. Hay Bud. Anyone order / receive anything from /earthshineorganics.com ?

    • Hello! Not that I know, but thanks for the heads up. I’ll try to check them out.

      • I have this same question about this site, the massive amount of strain, I am sceptical of it, and want to see if it’s been reviewed yet

    • Got a message from someone that said stay away from that company. They got really bad looking hemp.

  9. Great, I just ordered it too, and I have another site. I found the place on Instagram called missionlagofarmcbd who sells a pound of their cbd buds for $300. Their strains test in at 11%-14%. That was too muc for me to risk so they told me their distributor who sells smaller quantities is called Evansvillecbd.com. I just ordered their 4 gram starter pack and thought you’d be interested as they have their own different strains.

  10. Hey do you think you will try OldSkoolRemedies soon, i hear they have good products.

    • I am planning on it for sure. I’ve called already, but called during off hours.
